Upcycled Surfboard: SOLD

So I found about six broken surfboards on Facebook marketplace. I picked them up, cleaned all the wax off and paint on them. This is my second one completely finished and it was so much fun to paint it. It was based off of a picture I took of Haleiwa Beach Park. And if you know anything about me, I never get tired of seeing rainbows and this particular picture had a beautiful rainbow in the background and I really wanted to highlight that.

The reference photo had various types of palm trees in it. I wanted to really highlight the differences in each of those. I just love how each different palm tree has its own characteristic summer tall and skinny, and the palm fronds are spiny, and others are short with very thick palm fronds. I really love painting palm trees lol. I also experimented with using pallet knives to create some really cool texture in this piece. I stayed up until 3 AM finishing this piece and I sold it the very next day so it definitely scratches my hard work pays off it ha ha ha.
